Lyrics in Spanish (Commonly sung)

Estas son las mañanitas
Que cantaba el rey David
Hoy por ser día de tu santo
Te las cantamos aquí

Despierta, mi bien*, despierta
Mira que ya amaneció
Ya los pajaritos cantan
La Luna ya se metió

Qué linda está la mañana
En que vengo a saludarte
Venimos todos con gusto
Y placer a felicitarte

El día en que tú naciste
Nacieron todas las flores
En la pilar del bautismo
Cantaron los Ruiseñores

Ya viene amaneciendo
Ya la luz del día nos dio
Levántate de mañana
Mira que ya amaneció

*o, en lugar de “mi bien”
el nombre del/de la celebrante

Lyrics in English (Translation)

These are the mornings
that King David sang
today for being your saint’s day
we sing them to you here.

Wake up, my love*, wake up,
look it has already dawned
and the little birds sing,
the moon is already set.

how beautiful is the morning
when I come to greet you
we all come with pleasure
and pleasure to congratulate you.

On the day you were born
all the flowers were born (too)
At the baptismal font
the nightingales sang.

It’s already dawn,
and in the light of day he saw us
get up in the morning
look already dawned.

*or, instead of that,
the celebrant’s name.

Traditional Lyrics

Despierta, mi bien, despierta,
mira que ya amaneció
ya los pajarillos cantan,

¡Qué linda está la mañana
en que vengo a saludarte
venimos todos con gusto
y placer a felicitarte!

El día en que tú naciste
nacieron todas las flores
en la pila del bautizo
cantaron los ruiseñores.

Ya viene amaneciendo,
ya la luz del día nos vio
levántate de mañana
mira que ya amaneció.

Volaron siete palomas
por toditas las ciudades
Hoy por ser día de tu santo
te deseamos felicidades

Ya viene amaneciendo
ya la luz del día nos dio.
Levantarte de la mañana,
mira que ya amaneció.

Despierta, (nombre de la persona), despierta
Pasó el tiempo de dormir
Ya los gallos muy contentos
cantaron “quiquiriquí”

Ya viene amaneciendo
ya la luz del día nos dio.
Levantarte de la mañana,
mira que ya amaneció.

Quisiera ser solecito
Para entrar por tu ventana
Y darte los buenos días
acostadita en cama.

Ya viene amaneciendo
ya la luz del día nos dio.
Levantarte de la mañana,
mira que ya amaneció.

Quisiera ser un San Juan,
quisiera ser un San Pedro
pa’ venirte a saludar
con la música del cielo.

Ya viene amaneciendo
ya la luz del día nos dio.
Levantarte de la mañana,
mira que ya amaneció.

De las estrellas del cielo
tengo que bajarte dos,
Una para saludarte,
otra para decirte adiós.

Volaron cuatro palomas
por toditas las ciudades
Hoy por ser día de tu santo
te deseamos felicidades.

Con jazmines y flores
hoy te vengo a saludar.
Hoy por ser día de tu santo
te venimos a cantar.

Seven pigeons flew
for all the cities
Today for being your saint’s day
we wish you best wishes

It’s already dawn,
and in the light of day he saw us
get up in the morning
look already dawned.

Wake up, (person’s name), wake up
The time to sleep has passed
Already the roosters, very happy,
they sang “cock-a-doodle-doo”

It’s already dawn,
and in the light of day he saw us
get up in the morning
look already dawned.

I would like to be the little sun
to enter through your window
and say good morning
while you’re lying in bed

It’s already dawn,
and in the light of day he saw us
get up in the morning
look already dawned.

I would like to be a Saint John,
I would like to be a Saint Peter
to come and greet you
with the music of heaven.

It’s already dawn,
and in the light of day he saw us
get up in the morning
look already dawned.

From the stars in the sky
I have to download two for you
One to greet you
another to say goodbye.

Four pigeons flew
for all the cities
Today for being your saint’s day
we wish you best wishes.

With jasmine and flowers
Today I come to greet you.
Today for being your saint’s day
We come to sing to you.
