“I See the Moon and the Moon Sees Me” is an old English lullaby and nursery rhyme. It’s one of the most popular pieces of its kind. The song was included in several 19th century publications, where different versions were recorded. It looks that the following two liner is one of the oldest:
I see the moon, and the moon sees me,
God bless the moon, and God bless me!
In the 20th century, the lullaby was performed and recorded by numerous artists, like The Mariners, Meredith Willson and The Stargazers. Gradually the lyrics of the song have been prolonged to reach the length of four verses, which is the norm today.
