Like “Did You Ever See a Lassie?”, its tune was taken from a 1679 Viennese tune by Marx Augustin, “Oh du lieber Augustin”. The rhyme has been used in various ads, jingles and trailers. Today it’s often used as a love song for kids.

‘The More We Get Together’ is an extremely easy 2-chord song in a major key. We suggest the key of C major, as both chords C and G are essential for beginners.

The melody range that results when singing in the key of C is a ninth from G4 to A5 (see on the Music Sheet following). This range is well suited to most children’s voice pitch. Nevertheless, you could use a capo to transpose to C#, D, Eb or E major by placing it respectively on fret I, II, III, or IV.
