“Au clair de la lune” is a French children’s song (comptine), whose origins date back to the 18th century.
This song seems to be the earliest recording of human voice that exists today, as it is reproduced on a phonautograph paper recording from 1860.

Moving in the range of the 6th (C-A or G-E, depending on the key), this is an appropriate song in order to teach a music instrument like the recorder or the glockenspiel.
Additionally, the form of the song (a – a – b – a) is very simple, so children actually have to learn only two musical phrases.
Make a simple orchestration, with different sounds for every part (e.g. piano and triangle for a, glockenspiel and woodblock for b). Younger children learn to alternate and play on time on their turn.
