If semitones are not your strong card, it’s time to practice on them! It’s always easier to learn a music interval based on a well-known melody.
Listen to the instrumental version and focus on the first melody, where the words “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas” are matching.
Continue listening to it again and again and sing it at low voice, following the sound of the strings and the piano. While doing so, try to imagine the little “steps” of the voice.
You can help the children sing semitones up and down in the following way:
Start from a certain pitch and sing: “na-na, go up” and then “na-na, go down”, singing e.g. “E-F” and “E-Eb”.
Repeat from different pitches and go on with the song.
