“White Christmas”  Song History

The song was first presented in 1942 film “Holiday Inn”sung by Bing Crosby, and soon became one of the most recorded and best-selling of all time. Berlin, the composer, received an Oscar for Best Music in an Original Song, and proved that even with 8 verses (the lyrics are no more than that) the sound can win the audience and the public.

“White Christmas” is a nostalgic reference to the snow that has covered the land at Christmas day, a common phenomenon in northern countries, and only exceptionally in Andes, Antartica, and some other regions of the southern hemisphere. Regardless of the sense that every country has for the snowfall -from just cover the ground, to more cm of depth- “White Christmas” is always a desirable day for all the people, younger or older.
