“Mozart’s Lullaby (Sleep, little one)” is a lullaby, perhaps the most famous Wiegenlied (German lullaby), dating from the 18th century and attributed for a long time to W.A.Mozart. However, according to recent research, the composer of the tune is considered to be either Bernhard Flies or Johann Friedrich Anton Fleischmann. Both of them lived at the end of 18th century.

Guitar Chords and Tabs

‘Mozart’s Lullaby’ is an easy 4-chord song in a major key. We suggest the key of G major, as all the chords G, D, C, D7 are essential for beginners.

The melody range that results when singing in the key of C is the octave G4-G5 (see on the Music Sheet following). This range is well suited to most children’s voice pitch. Nevertheless, you could use a capo to transpose to C#, D, Eb, or E major by placing it respectively on fret I, II, III, or IV.

Easy Guitar Sheet Music with Chords, Notes and Tablature

Here you will find a simple transcription for guitar with bass and middle voice plus recommended fingering. As already said, the piece is ideal for guitar beginners. We suggest this version with accompaniment for a more sophisticated approach. Regarding the left hand, all 4 fingers are used to play the notes on the 1st position and up to the 4th fret. Two or three fingers must be held together at the same time.

This version is excellent for right hand mobility and control. You can practice apoyando and tirando, while the thumb moves on all the bass strings. We use apoyando for the melody so that it will stand out clearly – it is pointed out with the accent articulation sign. We play the middle voice tirando (m-i-p and m-i-p-i-m) for a more subtle sound. To sum up, you can combine all the basic fingerpicking techniques.
