This Old Man Teaching idea & activities
The text of the song is good for language training, as many verses are rather difficult to pronounce (i.e. “knick-knack, paddy whack”).
Start singing the song slowly, increasing gradually the speed, so that at the end it’s done quite fast and hard to say.
As a counting song, “This old man” is sung in order to learn the first ten numbers. Clap respectively before every stanza as many times as the text requires.
